According to Iranian Agriculture Minister Gholam-Reza Nuri-Ghazelje, economic relations between Iran and Russia are reaching a new level. At a press conference, he said that last year the volume of mutual trade in the agricultural sector reached $ 1.2 billion. In 2025, according to forecasts, the trade turnover will increase by at least 30-35%, and in the future it may double and reach $ 3 billion.

The Iranian minister stressed that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is especially great in the agro-industrial complex, where there is an increase in demand for products. The countries are already actively developing the exchange of goods and services, and new agreements open up opportunities for even larger-scale projects.

An important factor was the free trade agreement between Iran and the states of the Eurasian Economic Union, which entered into force in May this year. This step significantly facilitates conditions for exporters and importers, reduces barriers and simplifies customs procedures. Experts believe that this agreement will be a key incentive for a rapid increase in trade turnover in the coming years.

According to analysts, a doubling of trade volumes to $3 billion can be achieved by expanding the supply of agricultural products, including cereals, fruits, vegetables and livestock products. Additional prospects are opening up in the field of logistics and processing, where Russia and Iran plan to implement joint projects.

Thus, the strengthening of trade relations between Russia and Iran reflects the general trend towards expanding economic cooperation within the EAEU. Both sides view the growth of bilateral trade as a strategic objective that will not only increase turnover, but also strengthen food security and investment partnership.
